The United States Academic Decathlon is a national academic competition. Students compete by taking standardized tests in six academic areas, and also compete in the categories of speech, interview, and essay. In addition, they participate in the Superquiz, an oral competition.

Drury’s first competition of the season generally takes place at Pittsfield High School.
Each year there is a theme to the competition. The theme for 2008-2009 is “Latin America.” The Superquiz competition topic is “An Introduction to Evoutionary Biology”.

The team consists of nine students. The Honors category consists of three students with “A” averages, the Scholastic category has three students with “B” averages, and the Varsity category has three students with “C” averages.

During the 2007-2008 season Drury fielded two teams, one comprised of Seniors and one of underclassmen who were playing to prepare for future competitions.
Drury’s coaches are Mrs. Allison LaPort and Mrs. Karen Bedard. Other teachers also coach every year depending on what the subject of the competition is. For further information contact Mrs. LaPort. To earn more about the competition visit www.usad.org.
