CORE VALUES, BELIEFS, AND EXPECTATIONS

The Drury High School Science Department is committed to providing
all students, regardless of race, gender, or economic stature, access to
an exemplary education in science that provides them with the
knowledge and skills required to be successful in the global society of
the 21st century. 

 
In order to achieve this goal the Drury High School Science
Department strives to ensure that all students:
  • Engage in authentic processes of scientific inquiry.
  • Evaluate the scientific validity of information from various sources and use this knowledge to inform their decision-making.
  • Actively participate in the collaborative and social nature of science.
  • Have access to curricula that challenge each individual and are consistent with National, State, and professional organization standards.
  • Are provided access to the resources essential to the pursuit of further studies in science, technology, and engineering.  
The Drury High School Science Department will regularly assess its
progress towards these commitments using the following benchmarks:
  • Alignment of department curricula with National, Massachusetts, College Board, AAAS, and NSTA standards.
  • Student performance on Massachusetts state science exams.
  • Student performance on AP science exams.
  • Student performance on common departmental exams and performance assessments. 
  • Number of students successfully pursuing careers in science, technology, and engineering.
